Should I be able to rotate my AC compressor shaft by hand?
As discussed in an earlier post, my AC clutch plate has fallen off my 2001 Honda Civic. I ordered a replacement clutch kit, and was planning to attempt the repair this weekend, but a friend suggested I check whether the shaft itself had seized.
With this in mind, I tried simply grabbing the exposed shaft between my fingers and rotating it by hand. It didn't budge.
So my question is this: Is it normally possible to rotate an AC compressor shaft by hand? Is the fact that I wasn't able to a sure sign that the shaft has seized, or does this require further investigation?
Thanks.

I've never tried but I'd say you probably won't be able to turn by hand. Put the nut on it and the use a wrench to try and turn. Just make sure you can take the nut back off without damaging anything.
I ended up placing the clutch plate onto the shaft and was able to then rotate it by hand. I've posted an update with the current status of the fix:
