Default Swapping y8 into 98 civic dx

Hey guys I've done some research so Itd be nice if someone didn't tell me I don't know how to work on cars or use the search, I'm still learning but it be easier while I'm searching to have someone answer my specific question, my d16y7 blew I believe it was obd2a and I went and bought an engine from a 99civic automatic and hooked it up and had issues ever since because I believe it's an obd2b (correct me if I'm wrong please) any way I'm over the y7 so I got me a y8 I'm just wondering if I can swap it and it should run fine beside me having to hook up vtec from my harness but I'm assuming I'm going to need the p2p ecu and after that will it be proper and I won't have to worry about obd2a or b or what if I get the ecu and convert to obd1 will I not have to worry about that stuff thanks for any help ill continue the research while anyone willing to help replies. I have a 98 civic dx manual d16y7
