I'm wrapping up a full rebuild on a d16y7. I'm nearly ready to put it in the car but there's just a few things on the back of the block I can't remember. If anyone is willing to lift the skirt on theirs and take a peek, I'd really appreciate it.
The threaded hole in the first pic appears to be the Knock sensor hole... I agree with civic402lx on the other two that you asked about.
In another thread, I read that the Y8 has a knock sensor, but the Y7 doesn't. Not sure if that's true or not. That surface on my block has an aluminum oxide coating on it, meaning it was exposed, as compared to the harness strap, which is bare aluminum.
That is correct... no knock sensor is present on the Y7 engine, and therefore, is an OPEN threaded hole and will not be used with the stock engine/ECU combination.
In my first picture, what is that sensor directly above the oil filter? I put the engine in the car today, but didn't see anything on the harness for that.
Check your harness. You are certain the oil light still functional?

look at the engine harness. Then look at yours. Yours may be missing

Thanks to your link I was able to locate the connector. That was very helpful. I'll have to get in there soon and connect it and also confirm that the oil light still works.
Right now I'm more concerned with what I think might be spark knock. I'm wondering if I connected the injectors correctly, or if for some reason the distributor needs adjustment....
