Timing my CB7?
I bought a 1990 Accord EX last year (first car), and it ran fantastic for about 10 months. I thought at first my timing belt had broken, but it was actually my camshaft shearing in half (probably from lack of lubrication, it suffered some neglect for a while due to funding). Anyway so for my first car repair, instead of break pads or something easy, I ripped my engine in half, and put a new head on. Now I have the new head on, but I don't know how to time everything. I'm pretty sure the crankshaft needs to be a tdc for cylinder 1 (right?), but I can't seem to find any info about where the cam needs to be positioned. If anyone can shed some light for me, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
There are timing marks on your cam shaft sprocket. You will have to take the timing belt cover off to see the timing marks on the cam shaft sprocket and the crank shaft pulley. There are some good stickys on doing timing that I will not rehash here. Do a little looking around and ask questions of the author(s). People here genuinely want to help each other out. After you get the timing belt on you're not done. A lot of Honda engines from this generation need to have the timing fine tuned with a timing light and by adjusting the distributor. There might be a rubber plug on your engine that you can pop off to shine a timing light on your main pulley. Approximately 12-14 degrees from TDC is pretty typical for your year. Good luck
