d15b8 timing issues.Need help
So I replaced the head gasket, IT mani gasket and now I and doing the timing on it, the crank is at TDC the cam sprocket is on point and belt is tight. When I run it and put the light on it the timing marks are about 4" off towards the firewall. I have tried it over and over and nothing helps. Moving the dizzy only advances it a little, still off by three inches or so. WTF is going on, any ideas? Obviously the car is running like **** like this, and I dont want to keep running to long like this, anyone know?

Is the service connector jumped while you are checking the ignition timing? If so, then your mechanical timing is OFF by one tooth on the timing belt.

Yep, had it jumped but still does not make a difference. The cam and crank are where they are supposed to be, no idea wtf is up. Only thing I can think of is a different crank pulley but its unlikely.

you need to advance or retard the cam timing before you put tension on the belt...dont remember which...the tensioner pulls the belt to one side

i believe you, but its wrong. mechanical timing must be off. if the bolts are in the distributor it should be damn close. it only gives you like +/- 8 degrees from base 17
