Is it my Transmission ?
Hey people,
I was riding in my 1995 Del Sol and when I got to steep hills my car wouldn't switch gears, ( its automatic and it was just whining, not changing gears)it just got sluggish . When I downshifted to 2 or even 1 it picked up , made it up the hill easily and then ran ok again. But, later it happened again when the hill wasn't as steep. This time it seemed that the harder I stepped on the gas the more sluggish it got. So now I'm wondering if it's maybe the carburetor ( does my car still have a carburetor? ) I'm trying to learn more about cars. Anyways, what do you think? Will this be expensive? I would like to fix it myself but if it's the transmission I guess a pro needs to do this. Anyone know what's wrong?

If you're saying the engine revs up a lot yet the car doesn't go any faster, that is the transmission slipping. If you're saying the engine doesn't rev up thus the car can't get to normal highway speeds, that is an engine problem.
