DC2 ITR Alternator
Hi all. I have a 98 JDM DC2 ITR.
Earlier today I noticed the rev counter bouncing all over the place and slight bit of intermittent backfire.
We swapped out the coil and noted that the original one was on its way out. It fixed the immediate problem. In trying to figure out why, we tested the voltage in the battery. It was 14.4 on idle. So it was overcharging the battery which led to the coil failure.
I now need to find a replacement alternator. Difficult in South Africa. As far as I know it's a square plug, 4 pin alternator. I've read the Type R alternator are different and run at 85amps vs 90 on other alternators. Is this true? If so, why, is it a performance thing?
I can get a B20z 4 pin square plug. Will this work without adversely affecting the performance?
Thanks...
