Hi guys

i picked up a sixth gen recently and it is my first one. got 112,000 miles on it and am pretty excited. only thing standing in my way is a rack and pinion that it shot.
except for a direct replacement r/p i was wondering if any other year ones would fit? few of my friends have a few lying around so was wondering if one would fit

my car is 1996 automatic power steering ex 2dr

hoping you guys could advise me or point in the right redirection? ex: would a 1995 rack/pinion power fit?

Just curious, what makes you think the steering rack is shot?

 

Your only plug & play options are any 96-00 civic p/s rack. They are all the same and will drop right in. You can use a 92-95 civic or 94-01 integra rack, but you will need to change out the subframe and compliance bushings to match the rack you are using & possibly different tie rod ends, I can't remember off the top of my head. Or you can use a 96-00 civic manual steering rack, you more or less just need the steering u-joint from the car it came from and its basically a drop in replacement, you just lose p/s. I went this route on my EM1 and had no issues installing.
