I have a 2002 Civic with 190k miles on the clock. its been an amazing car since I have owned it, I use it as a highway driver/dog hauler.

I was driving today at about 65MPH in 4th gear. accelerating about to shift into 5th and the car stopping making power (electronics on) but it was like the gas pedal became disconnected. I pushed the clutch the car just stalled, I released the clutch while coasting to see if it would come back on and nothing. Pulled to the side of the road and called a tow truck, the car usually would start in 3 cranks EVERY time, now after 5-6 cranks it fires up and then stalls about 1 second later. My instant thought was timing belt but there is not knocking/ticing/clanking, and fluids so I'm confident that isnt it. I dont think its major. The sympton to me seems like it could be a fuel filter, but would it just cause it to die like that on the highway, I would think a fuel filter, it would sputter, it just all of a sudden lost power. Any thoughts or suggestions to help diagnosis. I am not really an import guy so I am not sure what to check next, Coils tend to die completely or when they get hot, so now that the cars cooled and it starts for 1 second, I dont think its a coil. TPS Sensor just die on me?

Is the check engine light on?

 

The CE light had been on for years, I took it to get scanned and the guy said it was a non-issue. I will dig up what the code was is. I have a scanner, i hooked it up to look for additional codes and only that one persisted, will check again

Code P1457 still the only trouble code (this has been there for quite some time), here is a video I took, foolishly no sound it was my first youtube video.
