Default 2005 CR-V Check Engine + VSA Warning Lights

I was in the mountains driving through some very dusty conditions. On the way back, all of a sudden the check engine light came on, followed by the VSA system and activation lights as the car started to bog and forced me to pull over.

I shut off the engine for a short time. After I started it up, the VSA lights were off but the check engine light remained on.

I stopped at a self-service car wash; once I started it again, the check engine light was no longer on.

Any ideas as to what was/is going on and whether I should be concerned? This is the first time anything like this has ever happened.

Existing problem with oil leakage / blowby? Check oil volume, pull the check engine code if it's still in the system. Other people might have better ideas.

Pedal position sensor is bad. Very common on this gen crv. Eventually it will not drive at all, as the sensor sends a signal to the throttle body to open and close. Also, replace the vvt oil pressure switch at the same time.
