Default check engine lights...

this is for a 96 civic ex.
this past sunday i was driving on the highway cruising at 65mph and out of nowhere my engine light goes on. i didnt have time to check the code so i reset my ecu and the engine light came off...this morning on my way to school again cruising at 40mph my engine light turns on out of nowhere again.

any idea wtf this is? i really dont have time to take it to a mechanic.

i've also noticed before my engine light came on when im driving hard in 2nd gear, as soon as it hits 6k rpm my engine just completely stops pulling.

Check the code. I don't think anyone on here can diagnose the problem just by you telling us that the light came on while you were driving your car.

Not to hi-jack but I have a problem as well. I recently installed a header on my car and when I went to put the o2 sensor back in, apparently it got damaged or what not and I failed emissions because of it, so I took it to a mechanic to get so I could get my emissions waived.

The mechanic told me I was getting a CEL, when I never saw one once. My CEL will always come on when I turn my key to accesorry (like it should). Whenever I check codes my SRS light just flashes, or nothing will happen at all.

Any hlep?

engine was misfiring in cylinders 2 & 3. pulled the spark plugs and they were shot.

changing my spark problems also helped my acceleration problems
