1998 CR-V Brake Problems...
So I just replaced the rear brakes on this vehicle. The brakes were making noise and the pads were very low, so i replaced pads and drum brakes as well as springs, wheel cylinders, etc. I made the mistake of leaving a brake hose unhooked from one of the cylinders for a day before I proceeded to switch everything. I noticed a puddle of fluid on the ground the next day. So I assumed I would have to bleed the brakes before it could be drive-able again. I switched the old parts out for the new, no problem, bled the driver side brake, easy peezy, then started to bleed the passenger side brake. I went through two bottles of fluid until air quit coming through the hose. Went to drive the car and the brakes were spongy as hell. Also, my brake light is now on constantly and I thought the sensor was out before now because the light would never come on when I would pull the parking brake. Is my master cylinder damaged? What is going on here??? Thanks...
I would first try and bleed the brakes again, usually you want to start with the furthest away from the master cylinder ie the rear passenger side, then the rear driver, front passenger then front driver. When your bleeding are you having someone help you or trying to bleed it yourself. Ive known a few people try and do it themselves and usually end up needing help in the end anyway not to suck air back into the system. You could also look and make sure your wheel cylinders are not leaking wouldnt be the first time a new part was faulty. You brake light could possibly be cause theres still a little bit of air in the system.
