2010 Honda Element EX - Overheating?
Hi, I have a 2010 Honda Element EX with about 111K on the odometer. I've had an issue in which when I'm at idle in traffic the temperature gauge starts to rise. I've had two shops look at this issue (Honda mechanics and a local mechanic) and they report the same thing. The fans are coming on when the coolant is at 222-226 degrees F. No leaks, new coolant (Honda) and they can't get it to overheat, yet my gauge will show it rising well above the 1/2 mark. The fans DO work when the A/C is on and I also get heat when the heater is on. Water pump, thermostats and not showing ANY codes at all. Is it possible the gauge is malfunctioning? Thanks Paul
When the mechanics were checking the vehicle, did the temperature gauge rise during their testing even though they could not get it to overheat?
Also at idle, if you have the A/C on, does the temperature gauge still rise?

They were NOT looking at the gauge in the car, they were just using their scan tools.
At idle with the A/C on the temperature remains below the 1/2 mark and it will actually lower the needle (sort of like turning on the heater).
The fans always come on with the A/C, I've visually verified that.
