Default Silicone Caulk on windshield

So the guy that owned my car before me installed the windshield wrong. He just put the glass in and none of the trim pieces. So of course it's leaking the foot well is like a lake when it rains. This is my beater so I don't want to put money into having the windshield replaced. Would filling where the trim pieces go with clear silicone caulk work for fixing the leak?

I don't believe the civics had trim pieces, they had a rubber gasket around the edges.

I understand it's your beater but the windshield is also a safety concern as it's the major support if the car rolls.

If the windshield wasn't installed correctly with the right kind of glue etc, the strength of the pillars and roof is compromised and your safety is jeopardized.

I would shell out the cash to have the windshield re-installed properly especially if the glass is in good shape and they don't need to order the glass.

Then it's just the clips and molding that will be needing to be replaced.
