I was told that it's not a good idea to use it as it holds moisture in an causes the pipes to rust.

I used it on my 94 zx-9r kawasaki. I had a D&D ceramic exhaust, and wrapped it from the head to the canister. I noticed that there was no heat from the exhaust that would creep up at stoplights, etc like before I wrapped it.

But it does hold moisture.

I would not use it on a car, but that's because it is expensive and I don't see the benefit on a teg.

If you were really concerned about engine compartment heat, the best alternative to header wrap would be to get your header ceramic coated. Jet Hot, HPC, etc. are a couple of companies that do this. It's proven that the coating can reduce temps near your header by something like 25%-50%. Probably not necessary on an N/A car, turbo manifolds could benefit from it though.

wrapping the headers is ok..but can void warrenty and cause rust. as stated above i got the creamic coating but jet coatings....works awesome...and keeps my header nice and shinny

I have no personal experience w/ header wrap.. but I've heard it can retain moisture and also heat which will crack ceramic headers.. not sure about stainless... don't know if its true or not.. I was just told this..

I just did mine.
my header is ceremic coated but it got really hot and seem
it will ruin my new paint after couple of year
what you do it get a header wrap spray..
it keep most of the moisture out for good.
and it looks better too..silver instead of yellowish color.
learn it from accord forum

On my old car I had wrapped my Greddy turbo manifold, but that is a cast iron manifold. I don't think mild or stainless steel will be able to hold up for daily driving. Sending off your header to Jet Hot Coatings will do the yield the same benefits as wrapping it, but safer and more effective.

-i wouldnt say that, because it does make sense from a point of view (a logical or practical point of view). accually, you commenting in that way shows that your an inconsiderate person, in this case, your not considering his point of view...

yea i was kindda wondering the same..... i mean if u drive it all the time wouldn't the heat evaporate the moisture? and the crap u get in the morning isn't even enuff to get those wet i don't think unless u leave ur hood open and it rains.
