1993 Honda Delsol Transmission noise
Hello I have a 1993 Delsol manual with a d16z6 86,xxx miles.
4-5 months ago I replaced my input shaft bearing because my transmission was making a horrible grinding noise when I started to let out the clutch.
So I pulled the transmission and I noticed the input shaft was loose. It shouldn't be proving what I thought that my Input shaft bearing was bad.
I split the transmission and replaced the bearing. While I inspected the old one all the bearings were still there but the plastic cage was cracked and the bearings were badly dented and scraped up.
I put everything back together started my car and let the clutch out slowly and YES! my problem was gone I fixed the grinding noise....So I thought.
A few days later I got in my car to start it and I hear a whirling/grinding bearing noise. I'm not sure if it was there when I first fixed the transmission and it slowly got louder or what.
So after reading that my main question is why do I have the symptoms of a bad input shaft bearing again. When It was bad the first time it was a different noise and It didn't have the whirling noise when I'm in neutral and clutched out.
Could I have damaged it getting the transmission in by myself and put to much pressure on the input shaft? Should I just try to replace it again?
Thanks in Advance.

Usually when the ISB is bad it damages the pilot bearing in the flywheel.
Your ISB is probably fine but your pilot bearing in the flywheel probably is not.
Also did you check all the other bearings on the main shaft and secondary shafts when you had the tranny split open?

Honestly IMO when you go down in there it's really a task. When I do that I love to have a great piece of mind. Nothing is a better piece of mind then replacing most likely your stock 150k mile+ flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. So when ya do bolt everything back up and drive it for a few thousand miles you don't hear any crap like that.
Mistake: Not replacing full clutch assembly
Solution: Fork out the few more chips for a full clutch kit and resurfacing of fly wheel or replacement. But hey now you get to do it again, don't worry though we all been in that place including me personally. I look at it like I'm gonna become a tranny removing guru aha. Good luck!
EDIT: I just noticed your car has very low mileage. I guess at that point it's a 50/50, but In retrospect you're gonna be going down there again around 150-200k or whenever it feels like taking a ****, so again I'd suggest doing it right then and there. Now you have a lot of pieces of mind all the way to 200k+ That's a lot of mind😂😉
