I was just about ready to finalize a deal on purchase of a 2000 V6 Honda Accord with 170,000. Just found out the transmission has never been replaced and now I'm sure I shouldn't make this purchase.

 

Not all of these cars had bad transmissions. Check the service records. If the fluid has been changed regularly and it operates fine I would not worry about it.
Just make sure to drive the car thoroughly. Drive it around town, go for a cruise on the freeway, and find a hill to climb. If it shifts fine, then it is probably OK.

 

Drive it hard and make sure to check for codes before you buy it.
