I literally asked Tial sport on IG and FB and got no response, the piece in question is this removable thing on the bottom of the gate. Do I need it, this unit is going on a Sheepey built sidewinder. I'm not bolting it up till I know, I hace no idea what it does or if I need it? it comes out pretty easy. I'm guessing it's a weld ferrule?

 

That is the fire ring and yes you need it.

 

Thanks man, never had one of these before plus it didn't say fire ring in the "what's included" when I bought it so I had no idea what it was even.

 

It never does on the invoice or tag. Check out the TiALSport website technical diagrams. It will list all parts there

 

some also call it the seal ring, because that is what the valve physically seals against. it comes out fairly easy when brand new. after a bunch of use, it still comes out, just not always as easy. It is a replaceable and wearable part. I've never needed to replace one, but they do wear over time, and can/should be replaced if it wears past a certain point. or if it gets damaged somehow of course
