Default 96 Accord tach issue

So I have a 96 accord 2.2 vtec and I recently replaced the distributer (due to oil leaking into it) and now the tach is acting odd. While driving it works fine until 3k then it starts flipping between redline and 2k. I replaced the coil and still no change. I'm at a loss right now and it is really bothering me. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The tach is driven from the ICM. Is it possible that you might have "nicked" the wire when doing the seal change?

I will have to look into that it's had a few other random electrical issues too

Oh, and now that reading comprehension kicks in......you said you replaced the dist and I assumed you replaced the seal....so I might have jumped too soon.

Either way, the tach reads from the blue wire off the ICM. If the engine is running fine when the tach goes wacky I would start with checking the wire.
