Hi,

I have a 1990 CRX SI that started cutting fuel at full throttle. This results in either bucking as the car goes in and out of full throttle, or for the fuel to cut completely until I am off throttle and get back on it. This happens in any gear as soon as I go full throttle. It seems to be OK at partial throttle. No issue occurs when revving it in neutral with full throttle, it just seems to happen under load. The car sounds and runs fine otherwise.

I replaced and calibrated the TPS but no such luck. I also replaced the ECU with a known-working one but there was no difference. I checked the distributor cap and rotor but it looks OK. I didn't see any heavy wear or any cracks on it.

This is a circle-track car which is why I need to be able to go full throttle Any ideas on what I can try next would be really appreciated!

Here is a video when I tried to race it last week: You can hear it buck and pop sometimes. On the last lap, right when I was trying to pass the #61 car, you can hear the throttle cut out completely.

 

what rpm is it cutting off? - the PM-6 ECU has fuel cut-off at 7000 rpm - are you running it to 7000? - if so, try a 88-89 (not 86-87) Integra PG-7 ECU (manual transmission) which has fuel cut-off at 7500 rpm

 

It cuts out at any RPM as soon as I go full throttle. It's not the normal ECU cut off, it's something new that started happening over the winter while the car sat.

 

Im having the same issue with 86 civic 1.5 F.I . We also run a 1/4 mile asphalt . Did u find out what it was

I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I just replaced all of the fuel injectors but it still has the same problem. Have you had any luck?

 

we replaced the fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap& rotor, then the injectors, still nothing. we looked at the electric external fuel pump which was installed by previous owner, the wiring was all messed up with no connectors just the wire striped and warped around terminals LOL. We cleaned that all up and it seams fine now.
