Last year i got a 93 civic ex, all stock z6 engine and i got it passed smog only for it to spin a bearing a few days later. I ended up purchasing a d15b vtec because i thought it was equivalent to a z6. Well 2 months later i was stopped by chp and offered a road side smog check. I thought i would be good and they said it wouldnt affect my cars current registration so i did the test. It came back running rich. Now my tags are due and i have to re smog my car. What can i do to bring my HC and CO #'s down? I have a stock p28 ecu chipped with supposed to be p08 maps with 02 sensor deactivated. Im looking for anything to help pass smog with this d15b, maybe a chip from phearable or just running the p28 maps while looking for a donor z6 to swap in for smog. Any help to make this d15b pass smog is much appreciated

im assuming you meant secondary o2 sensor disabled? not the primary
most likely from the sounds of it you have the wrong map. if you have it chipped of course get a new chip cheap,. but lean it up.
you can run p28 map with D15b...iv done it. ran fine. don't know how rich though.
z6 and d15 is identical 99%. try p28 map. if no go. try new chip.

Im not sure if its the primary or sencondary o2 deactivated but when i got the chip it said o2 would be deactivated. Thinking about trying a phearable chip refer to the new picture i post i guess it didnt get posted but between the z6 and d15 is a major difference.

If you were pulled over for making visible black smoke, likely something is broken not just misconfigured.
If you use only the JDM block + head and keep all the USDM manifolds and controls that came with the car, it should pass.
Im using a z6 intake and exaust manifold. The first picture is of z6 results passing second pic im posting is of d15b definatly not passing. Here in CA sometimes they do side of road smog testing aimed at late model cars even though it wont affect your current registration they turn over the results to dmv because i only had this car for a year and your supposed to have a smog check every 2-3 years
