Trying to gage the price on one of these also that's why I said our best offer plus its hard to come by new in the box that's why I started with 300 and the only two I found for sale Where between $525 and $600 dollars and they where both used

 

No way! I've got 1 of these on mine in mint condition as they came stock over here, swear they came stock on all civics (?). Didn't think they were worth anything tbh, well over here anyways.

I picked mine up used in 7/10 condition from a guy in Poland for $99 USD shipped. This is the first new one I have seen for sale for awhile, but its always the usa sellers that jack the price up on new & used ones. While the across the pond sellers are basically giving it away. lol

I wouldn't of mind getting a brand new one though, not sure what price would actually be a good one. I think they use to cost $150-$200 new, plus shipping & taxes. But from what I recall they are no longer available.

 

What exactly is the purpose of a hood insulator? I have never experienced any melted or discolored paint from a hot engine bay even after doing track days.

 

Never really understood this either tbh, maybe helps quieten the engine noise somewhat, doesn't make a huge difference to me anyway lol they came stock over here, didn't think anything of it

Did a quick google and someone said: "in the event of an engine fire the tabs holding them on are supposed to melt and the insulator falls over the engine, smothering the fire"

 

Interesting, but I doubt that's the purpose of a hood insulator. Anyway, cool looking piece and anyone doing an EDM-themed build should jump on this.
