Hey all. I drive a 99 civic ex d16y8 automatic.

So I have that common problem of faulty brake master cylinder reservoir filter for 96-00 civics. It cause the brake system indicator to illuminate after a cold start and then go off (sometimes it stays on). Replacement of the reservoir filter will commonly fix this problem. Only problem is I can't find anywhere that sells just the filter. No luck with Autozone, Napa, Honda dealership. Can't find it on any online part stores. Advanced Auto sells just the reservoir but it doesn't come with the filter for some reason...

Has anyone else had this problem and was able to just buy a new filter? I can't find one anywhere.

Take a trip to your local salvage yard. Cheapest source of OEM parts around. Some yards pull the parts and hold them in inventory. Stay away from those. Find one that will let you pull your own parts.

 

Last time I went couldn't find any civics. Today was a success though. Found two of em. one in much better shape than the other after I rinsed them off.


I would have preferred a new one but the one on the right looks to be in pretty good condition.
