Default A/C compatible turbo

I'm planning on doing a turbo build on my '94 Accord. The route I want to go is the DSM manifold with a 20G. What will have to be done to make this set up A/C compatible? I live in Phoenix, AZ, and I've gone without A/C for two summers and do not want to do it again.

Unless you've swapped in an F22A series engine out of a CB7, you can't use the DSM manifold. The ports don't match with the F22B series. If you have an F22Bx series engine that the car came with, you can use a log manifold and it will clear if you have a competent fabricator make the downpipe. Just take extra care and make sure to wrap/shield all of the surrounding components from heat for best results. If you can find an STR manifold somewhere used, they have the turbo flange offset slightly to help with A/C clearance.

Why? Either way it's just a matter of getting the downpipe to clear the compressor pretty much. Some people get creative with the lines and go custom for more clearance but it's not really needed in most cases.

You're gonna go through all that trouble just to do that? Do you already have the turbo? It'll likely be less complicated and cheaper to just get a T3/T4 and keep the stock head.

STR I believe was the brand. I haven't seen them up for sale in awhile but yes it will fit. I don't believe they're made new anymore so any you find would have to be used. They were made for the close port(0-00-0) F22Bx/F23 engines. If you can find one and pair that with a quality, correctly sized turbo for your HP goals it would yield a much more well fitting, inexpensive setup. You would also save time/money by not swapping heads and intake manifolds, etc etc. The B2 head is not the greatest but you can still make more power on it than the stock bottom end can handle.

There was an STR manifold for sale on HondaSociety awhile back but I'm not sure if it's still available. Even if it's not I would still go for an eBay cast log manifold before I started swapping heads and all that to use a DSM setup. You would still be able to fit a 2.5" downpipe, maybe 3" if your fabricator is really good, with an eBay cast log manifold and retain A/C.
