How-To Nitrous with an automatic, D17A1?
Would you be able to run a 25 hp - 50hp shot of nitrous (dry shot) in a stock internal D17A1 engine with a automatic transmission?
I'd really like to do this, but I wouldn't want to ruin the car. She has 150k miles, but I'd say everything is kept in pretty good shape. The water/coolant-temp sensor never really goes above 90*C. She usually stays around 81* C for long periods of driving.
How would you guys recommend using the nitrous, with it being an automatic (4 speed) trans. is 25 hp okay to use? is 50 hp okay to use? Should I wait for the higher-revs, but avoid red-line obviously. What RPM should I use nitrous and what RPM should I let off of it at?
The ECU tends to downshift when I punch the gas, sometimes to 2nd gear or 3rd gear, I am worried that this might happen, but with nitrous it might downshift and redline really bad. Any body have any suggestions to prevent this perhaps? Or should I not even worry, being that it's a Honda.

The reason why I'm interested in a Nitrous kit is because of the low price per HP obviously. That and it's a mod that I can always transfer into another car possibly in the future. I'd love to get an S2000, or Miata, or 240, 350z, etc one day.
My personal ideal scenario in mind is, wait til 3rd gear, and 3,500 RPM minimum, punch the gas and wait 1-2 seconds to know that it isn't going to downshift on me, THEN use the nitrous. That's kind of the best judgement I have in mind so far.

By the time you put a hondata on the car and dyno it, it will be expensive. If you dont itll run like poop with nitro.
People always think they are going to bolt on anything and the car will run. It doesnt work that way.
Even with a new exhaust and cai the car should have hondata and be tuned on a dyno.
We super charged an 8th gen si and we pulled into the dyno with a tuned on it just so it would run, it was 230hp when we started and 380 when we left.
you could sink 4 grand into that car and not be as fast as a stock k20
Ive personaly had good luck with the d series automatics. I just triple flush the tranny twice a year and drive it sensibly. Now ive put input shaft bearings in a few of my manuals
