Default How will an S4 compare against an NSX...........

Just wondering because I am close to buying an NSX, but recently have been looking into the Audi S4. How is the comparison, or is there none. If anyone is knowledgeable in this department, please drop a line. Thanks.

I know that the S4 is all-wheel and the nsx is rear, I was wondering performance wise. Stock vs. stock. The S4 is 250 hp and 258 tq. and the nsx is 270 or 290 with I think 224 tq. Sort of close numbers. I know the nsx is lighter, but it seems that the S4 has a torque advantage, especially if chipped. Anyone else? Thanks for the help everyone.

that torque number is going to be neutralized because of the added weight of the S4.

Over all the NSX is a more expensive, faster, better handling car.

The only reason I ask is because I now have a 97 GSR, and I wanted something with some more torque. I'm sick of reving the crap out of my car to get it going. I know the typical response is, "Why did you buy a honda?". But that is not what I'm getting at. I hope the nsx will prove to have a much torquier feel like my friends 95 M3. Otherwise, I still don't know what I'm going to do. Thanks for all your help.

If you need storage space to carry things, get an s4.

If you want one of the best cars ever built get an NSX.

stop thinking straight line.

if you WANT torque, buy a car that you KNOW has torque. what has some nice torque? mustangs, corvettes, etc...

m3's are also nice.

I would say the S4 is more practical.

If you need something like that, it's a good car..

If you want something fun, NSX.

go out and drive both of them and MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION!!!!

thats the only real way to know, drive both of them and you should realize your choice instantly whether it be the s4 or the nsx.

you can only make that judgment on a car that's daily driven, take both cars to a road course and that statement doesn't hold water, more weight=not fun to drive=poor handling compared to a lighter car. You can't neutralize weight by just adding more power/torque. The S4 is a pig and tires will be roasted in 2 laps.

S4 is a torque monster but takes a lot ot drive at the limits, especially coming from driving a GSR.

NSX is perfectly balanced and barely streetable, not practical for many folks either.

I am surprised you are comparing the two.

I want an NSX so bad, but never dream of S4's.

It's ok to compare. . .he just wants others views on the pros and cons of each. And I can't believe stevie hasn't maligned the NSX in some way or another.

The NSX isn't a very practical car compared with the S4. I mean it's missing 2 extra doors and a some semblance of a trunk. Yes, it has a trunk but you've got to be creative to store things in it. But if you get to drive both of them, I think the NSX would be difficult to say no to. The engine sound, car handling, hp, view-within and out, is very addictive. Plus, if you get one, there's a very helpful and informative NSX community out there.

But the NSX isn't AWD either. . .that's got to count for something under corner exit, off the line, and in the winter. Plus you can chip those things to get pretty significant hp increases.

You get an S4, you'll still wonder about what it's like to own an NSX.
You get an NSX, betya $10 you won't even care about S4.

In any case, if practicality is important, then get S4. They are both good cars but as everyone said, it's like comparing apples/oranges.

I have driven neither but I wouldn't even consider the S4. I know it's a great car but I'm just not interested in a 4 door sedan. The S4 is a compromise and will never be the race car the NSX can be.

Nothing wrong with comparing them, you should have seen the list of cars I was considering before I bought my S!

One more thing, I don't think the S4 will maintain it's value as well as an NSX. Doesn't matter to some people (like me) but it matters to some.

If you want a fun, sexy car to drive, buy the NSX

If you want practicality plus the ability to have fun at times, buy a 92 Civic sedan AND an NSX

The NSX is over priced and hasn't had any meaningful updates in forever. An S4 can be had for under $30k a pristine late model car with low mileage. It will run even with a nsx 0-60 stock and for $500 you can chip it to 340hp / ~400 ft lb and it will hold up fine and then you can rape NSX's all day. There are are alot of aftermarket parts and for around $32-34k you can have one with the power upgrades and a racing suspension and some other goodies. I'd buy the S4.

To those that can buy an NSX. . .it doesn't matter if it's overpriced. And early models are very reasonablely priced for the performance they offer.

Get the S4.

APR Stage III turbo upgrades and you won't even remember what an NSX is.

For the price of a used NSX, you can have a very modded S4 which can destroy F355's, Z06's, Modenas, and then some.

yeah, but its an S4...... never gonna get the feeling that u get of out a F355,360, Z06, M3,NSX..... S4 is a fast Jetta. thats how i like to think about it. DOnt get me wrong, its a great car, and AUDI has a great vision making SEDAN SPORTS CARS, but DEFINATELY not in the same leaque as the above mentioned cars no matter WHAT you do to it.

AGAIN, TO ME THIS IS A POINTLESS ARGUMENT, YOU NEED TO JUST GO OUT AND DRIVE BOTH CARS, AND YOUR DECISION WILL BE REALIZED INSTANTLY WHETHER IT BE S4 or NSX.

I've ridden in an APR tuned S4, F355, 360, and an M3, and IMO the S4 blows them all away.

But yea, go drive each and you decide.
