I cleaned some rust of my rotors this morning (see my other post today). To do it I drove over to the straight stretch of road just south of my school. I pulled up past 70MPH in 2nd gear full V-tec mode. That's some crazy speed man, plus, I don't think there is a sound in the world (of cars) that I prefer to a Prelude in V-tec!

You should also write them and ask them the correct spelling for VTEC.

 

And that you got a lucky tranny that will go to 70 in 2nd gear...

Damn, did you get some 18 inch wheels?, I don't know how you managed that one.

Next time, don't even use your brakes - use the engine. I can engine break from 70mph in under 100 feet

I have a stock triptronic. I haven't hit my car with a speed gun so I can't say for sure, but the speedo reads just over 70mph just before I shift into 3rd while burying it in the red.

 

Savor the VTEC now as it sounds like it won't last too long the way you're driving.

 

Actually the reason I was driving fast and braking hard was to burn off some rust. I don't drive like that all the time; in fact I rarely hit VTEC at all, because I mostly use my car as a daily driver.

70mph at 2nd gear is possible.. he red lined actually put it to 8k. i do that when i'm pissed off. i think i read 67mph @ 2nd gear 7500rpm

 

Oh, so it's an automatic? Did you leave it in 2 or something?

 

no no, Triptronic mode, I can shift when I want. The triptronic will downshift automatically (when you are slowing down only) but it will not upshift.
