Icon5 Vtec not kicking in

Hey guys. I have a 2000 accord 5 speed ex. Havnt done any mods to it yet bought it to fix up. Vtec hasn't been kicking in since I've owned it. The solonoid is brand new just did a full tune up and I hit about 3 grand and it feels like it wants to kick in. It like pulses almost but doesn't open up all the way no matter how much I get on it. I'm very knowledgeable about vehicles but don't know too much about vtecs. Any input or recommendations is very appreciated. And if you need any more info just ask. Thank you

It might be the VTEC pressure switch. Sometimes all it takes is a good oil change - the VTEC can get clogged up. If that doesn't fix it, and I was you, I would go to a junkyard and get the pressure switch off of a reasonable looking wreck and replace it. It will be cheap and usually comes with a warranty. It that fixes it, you can either leave it in, or return it and buy a new pressure switch. Below is information I got from alldatadiy.com which you can subscribe to for about $30/yr and it is supposed to have all of the official Honda procedures and part numbers.

Here is the location of the pressure switchVariable Valve Timing Pressure Switch
18. Right Side Of L4 Engine

Here is the VTEC solenoid pressure test procedure in case it is of additional help.
VTEC Solenoid Valve Test
  1. Disconnect the 1P connector from the VTEC solenoid valve.

  1. Measure resistance between the terminal and body ground.

  1. If the resistance is within specifications, remove the VTEC solenoid valve assembly (A) from the cylinder head, and check the VTEC solenoid valve filter/O-ring (B) for clogging . If there is clogging, replace the engine oil filter and the engine oil.

  1. If the filter is not clogged, push the VTEC solenoid valve with your finger and check its movement. If the VTEC solenoid valve is normal, check the engine oil pressure.

Okay thanks! I'll check that switch out tomorrow and flush the oil and run some sea foam. I'll let you know how it goes
