Default 1995 civic still overheating

my 1995 civic dx d15b7 automatic still is overheating after a new head gasket, water pump, thermostat, timing belt, thermoswitch, and flushed radiator and heater core. What other things could cause this? if you leave the radiator cap off it stays right below half way up on the temp gauge and if you put it on it shoots right to hot in a couple minutes. the fan doesnt come on either. it works if you wire it directly though.

Have you test the fan switch located on the t-stat housing? It could be dead.
how did you bleed the coolant?

bleed the coolant and make sure you are using a good radiator cap

Has a stop leak compound ever been used in the car? The radiator could be clogged.

Heater not working means that there is air in the system, or the heater core is clogged. When you flushed the core, did water flow through freely? It should be able to handle the full flow of a garden hose.

With no thermostat, the gauge would run at or near cold while the car is moving. With the car stopped it will creep up until the fan starts. If the rest of the system is OK there is no problem with putting a working thermostat in. If you keep driving with no thermostat so the engine is over-cooled, mpg will be lower and the oil will get contaminated.

Take the cap off when it is cold, confirm the radiator is full. Then start and rev the engine with the cap off, if bubbles or coolant blow out, the head gasket is blown.

When you filled the radiator back up did you have an equal 50/50 balance of coolant and water?
