Ghetto Alarm Install = No Horn or Cruise
Bought a used Gen 1 CR-V last year. Guy had an (apparently) ghetto shop install a alarm and remote start. I'm guessing it was this wonderful shop that is responsible for my missing clock spring. They just cut the wires and ripped out the plastic housing.
Anyways, my horn works when the alarm goes off, but not with the steering wheel button. I understand that this is due to a missing clock spring. I have ordered this part. However, before installing it, I wanted to verify if there should be a wire on the second electrical tab on each button (see photo). I would not be surprised if that guy cut/removed too. I have a super awesome (rolls eyes) Haynes manual, but it's not very helpful when it comes to the horn wiring.
Honestly, I don't care about the alarm, I just want the horn buttons to work so I can pass Pennsylvania's **** inspections.
P.S. - I tried to create a ground connection from this spare tab to the airbag frame (which I understand to be grounded). That didn't do the trick.
