Testing power steering rack before mounting
So I bought a used rack(not the smartest idea, I know). I mounted it but it was leaking from the cylinder lines, not the supply or return lines. I unmounted and tighten the lines and still there was a leak. I'm going to try and re-flare the lines but I was wondering if there was a way to test the rack before I mount it.
Connecting the supply and return lines is a pain so I would like to save myself the effort the loss power steering fluid if I can test it without mounting it.

It's my understanding that some of the lines are high pressure lines. I honestly do not know how you could provide the pressure required for an accurate test without mounting the rack to hook up all the lines properly etc.
Even if you have all the gear outside the car (like an engine dyno sort of thing), that equipment may seal up and operate correctly only to have it leak with the equipment in the car.

I've wondered this myself. Given that there are no more OEM PS racks for sixth-generation civics, you must buy a re-build. It would be excellent if it were possible to bench-test the unit before committing to the significant labor of replacing the rack.
