'91 JDM Civic VIN
Hi everyone
I recently got a '91 japanese Civic, and tried to look up for the car's backround by using it's VIN ... the thing is that I only have it's chassis number and engine number plates, and the previous owner couldn't help me at all ... so I've been searching, and tried to decode the VIN, but got stuck at the Check digit, Assembly Plant digit and the Production Sequence number, because I got none of those ...
The chassis number is EG4-1017152 and the engine number (if it wasn't swapped) is D15B2030202 ... and is a 3dr hatch
Any help will be very much appreciated
Marco

That chassis number is the VIN, JDM vehicles don't have a standard 17 digit VIN. What are you trying to figure out? Previous history on the car or what options it was supposed to have?
You got an EG4, son. That's about all you can tell from the JDM chassis code. Actually the 101 in the code suggests it's a 1992 model (though maybe produced in 1991).
The first line on the engine plate is the engine type, the second line is the serial. Don't merge them together. I think the "D15B" was the typical JDM engine. "D15B2" was a non-VTEC USDM engine.
