Default Civic lx electrical issues

Car runs fine, then the radio stops, the gauges all drop, and then the engine dies. Alternator and battery have both been replaced but there is still a battery light and a check engine light on.
At this point the car will run long enough to make it to the end of the drive so I can't make it to autozone to check the code, but about a year ago I had a p1298 code and then the light turned off but we never did anything to fix the issue.

That code is for the ELD circuit. Do some research on this and you will get your answer. Fairly common from what I understand

Yes, replace the Electric Load Detector.

Replacing the eld is easy. I got a code and the reason why I replaced it. I didn't have all those issues you have.

Will the eld cause those symptoms? From what I understand all it does is turn off the alternator when it isn't needed reducing its wear.
