Default Coolant Flow

I've recieved so many different answers on k-series cooling flow. It seems like most people, such as myself with my last project, run the upper rad hose to the cylinder head and the lower rad hose to thermostat. Yet I've seen honda repair manual looking images that show the opposite.

So what is it? I've gone through so many threads, called people, seems like every very intelligent person I ask has the opposing view as the previous one. Head to upper rad and block to lower rad? Anyone care to weigh in? This is the next step in my k24a2 miata build. Thanks in advance

Upper radiator hose from radiator to cylinder head, lower radiator hose from radiator to thermostat housing.
