Default Z6 and Y8 power steering pump question

can I use the y8 power steering pump with my z6? Everything's stock. If so, will the y8 pump bolt to the z6 bracket? Thanks guys

It should bolt up and likely work fine... however, the high pressure hose is a different diameter where it bolts to the pump itself, so you would likely have to change the upper hose too. Trouble with that is I believe it bolts to a completely different location at the rack, so it may be necessary to fabricate a "hybrid" hose using the majority of the Z6 hose and cutting and welding the hard line end with the appropriate fitting at the pump end.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply!

that's a bit more involved than I wished. I think my best bet is just going to be pulling the correct pump at a junk yard

That is the easier choice.

The real question is the obd2 d-series civic power steering the same as an obd1 d-series power steering pump.

I don't know if obd has anything to do with it, since there's nothing electrical plugged in. I think the main concern would be the bracket and maybe pulley size. I'm just going to have to hook the y8 pump up and see what happens I guess
