Default 2001 civic engine swap looking for mechanic help

Anybody know someone or even a shop for a simple d17 engine swap and how much it would cost? I'm willing to pay, all shops are telling me it will be about 800$ and after doing research it seems it shouldn't be that much or take too long it should be very simple. I don't have hoist or most tools to do it myself not very much a car guy ither don know much about them besides what I've found reading though different forums

Is that including the engine? Because if so, that's pretty cheap.

That sounds like dealership price. Go to a local shop. That job should be no more than a $500 if you brought them everything needed

Nope the cheapest at a local local shop was 700 with only labor, dealership quoted it at about 20 hours @130 an hour so 2600 which is out of question

20 hours????????? At $130 an hour?.....wow...it's way different here...first of all dealership rates are under $100 per hour here. And I work in a dealership. An engine swap in a 01 civic can be done in an 8 hour shift. I can't believe how bad they are trying to rip you off. It blows my mind away

Around here you can get a shade tree mechanic to do it for about $300 or so. Not the best warranty though. And if the new motor is no good, you gotta pay a second time to swap it about again
