90 Honda Accord
Car idle very rough, shakes badly, no power and no change when step on accelerator.
Put in new plugs, new distributor and didn't fix the issue.
About 150 compression in all cylinders, what should i check next?
No codes either on system

Does the cel light atleast turn on and off when you start the car to let you know the bulb isn't burned out ?
try this first, remove the iacv while being careful not to lose the oring on it, clean out all the crud in the metal mesh filter on it, see how it idles/runs
dont spray anything inside it, just clean the outside crud

Just bought my first car about to weeks ago. 94 accord EX. Second day she started bogging. I noticed a clogged CAT. Did a no no, and hollowed it. Reweld entire exhaust. Still bogged. Did more research and it can be a few things. I unplugged my O2 and went around the block. Ran 80% better. Next morning i changed the plugs and she ran better then day one.. It took a few days but i know nothing about cars. Everyday im under the hood cleaning dirt and oil and doing as much research possible. With my lack of knowledge in mechanic work i know never half *** anything. Hope it helps

Hi everyone I'm new to Honda Tech . But I do have a 97 Honda Civic EX that I'm having the same issue with one day it was running just fine the next day the engine would shake and no throttle response What I mean is loss of power didn't really wanna move at all without feeling like the vehicle was going to fall apart . So I started with the basics that most people have suggested and mechanics also have suggested. I replaced the timing belt and water pump along with distributor spark plug wires and spark plugs. I adjusted the valves and Pulled apart and clean the throttle air control valve. Put it all back together and still had a very noticeable shake in the whole engine Put a time in gun on it timed it just right. Still no change I pulled the engine timing belt cover off multiple times during this whole process to make sure that the pensioner had not loosened up on the timing belt and it had jumped the twos it was still tight every single time and the Cam and the crank were still in time to with each other. I did a lot of search. And thanks to this forum. And a little bit of brain power. I went back and checked the timing with my timing gun.
So to keep in mind the 1st time I put my time in gun on the engine it was perfectly timed. The 2nd time I put my time in gun on the engine I was off About 3 or 4゚. So I pulled everything apart just to check the tension on the timing bout to make sure once again it had not jumped the tooth by being too loose. But while I was pulling off the harmonic balancer I noticed that The rubber inside the hermonic balancer was worn out and old. Which explains why it was timed perfectly the 1st time but was not the 2nd time and nothing on the engine had been changed.
I would like to everyone to know I am not a certified mechanic but have been working on engines for 20 years now it's my Passion and I take Great pride in my work. I have ordered a new harmonic balancer And will let everyone know if that is the cause of the rough running engine in mine Honda Civic. I forgot to say I had no codes at all through this Process.
I hope this might help find out your guys is problem and I will let you know if it fixes mine.

The harmonic balancer only supports the serpentine belts not the timing belt so it's not going to affect your mechanical timing. I would make sure it's at tdc and then run a compression test just to rule out the engine being bad.
Not to be rude But the harmonic balancer has a lot to do with your timing . It is made up of rubber and metal the rubber separates the metal plates to dampen vibration coming from the engine's internal system more or less the crank shaft. Plus in order to time your distributor to the engine you have to use the marks on the harmonic balancer. Over time the rubber in the harmonic balancer will get brittle and old and more vibration from the engine that was dampened will start showing through. Like I said before I do my research before I pursue Anything I looked up the symptoms of a badd harmonic balancer and all the symptoms that I'm having And some of you are having are the same symptoms of a harmonic balance are going badd. So to reply to your comment you are right in a way the harmonic balancer does run the serpentin Belts for your AC, power steering, And your alternator on top of that it also balances out your crank shaft and if you're crankshaft is not balanced you will get a very badd shake in your engine plus If you're crankshaft is not balanced Then your timing will be off with your camshaft cause it's not running smooth.
So an update on my original post like I said I was buying a new harmonic balancer and going to update you all once I installed it. I just got done installing the new harmonic balancer and lo and behold The car runs like it's brand new I have no rough idle engine run smooth no shake. And I'm perfectly in time.
I hope what I have said may help some of you find out the reason why your engines are acting up like mine was.
