99 Civic Dx

the previous owner has installed a short ram, that has no supports and it all kinds of Jank and needs better rubber connectors and support, while also needing a new filter.

i don't want anything to expensive, like more than $60, but I just want something that will fit the car and work as intended. Not looking for additional power or anything, but added noise would be a plus.

i think going back to stock would cost to much, and I've read that CAI's draw in a lot of water if it rains hard.

 

Clean up the install on the short ram. Add a k&n filter to replace the old filter.
done. No need to buy anything. Filter alone will cost you up to $45.

I just picked up an Ek with a shoddily installed short ram, cleaned it up, bought a 3" K&N cone filter ($45 at Autozone), and called it a day. Worth it to pick up some Maf sensor cleaner while you're at Autozone since cheap short rams tend to wreak havoc on Ek map sensors, at least in my experience (I've owned 6 of them).

 

may try this, and how does the maf sensor cleanor work?

is K&N filters really worth the price over others?


also while Ive got a thread going, what's the recommended brand for dizzy cap and rotor?

 

It's just an aerosol can like throttle body cleaner, you just spray it in there. Matter of opinion on K&N but the cheap ones are almost $30 bucks anyway, so I figure what's another $15 for top quality product that will last and peace of mind? On the cap/rotor, I'm sure most would say Honda OEM or MSD on the top end, probably Bosch on the low end.

 

No need for msd on a stock daily. Stick with oem cap and rotor. Look in the FAQ forum. Find the oem brand honda uses. Tec or yec or something like that. Get that and be done..

I think that best and most practical intake is short ram with cold air pipe from bumper. There is balance between power and clean. CAI can be dirty easier and draw in water. For short ram buy or make thermo shield. OEM box with sport filter is little expensive and it is palliative

 

best one is an oem one.
