Advice is highly appreciated I recently posted my 02 RSX type S for sale very clean engine no problems at all 180k miles. I posted the car for $3900 and someone offered to trade me their 1998 integra turbo ls. It looks pretty clean in pictures clean interior all that. He claims it is rebuilt with type r pistons and has somewhere in the mid-upper 200s for horsepower (no dyno sheets so I'm skeptical) on 12 psi. Usually I wouldn't even be taking his time of day but the car looks super clean inside and outside I'm just worried about the engine. He sent a pic of the engine saying it has a Garrett 50/63 but can anyone tell me anything they notice about the engine? It seems kinda like a cheap turbo setup so I'm skeptical if it's worth the trade. Someone please give me any advice possible.
Re: Trading my 02 rsx-s for a turbo 98 integra ls???
That's a non-vtec valve cover, he's saying he is using Type-R pistons in a non-VTEC head? I haven't really heard of that being done, besides, why would you raise the compression for a turbo'd setup?
Re: Trading my 02 rsx-s for a turbo 98 integra ls???
Sounds like a really bad idea. Why would anyone in their right mind give up a clean reliable k20a2 with six speed, for a stance swaggot b18b ls with ebay/Frankenstein mystery build?
Re: Trading my 02 rsx-s for a turbo 98 integra ls???
I'm going to agree with the consensus here that this is not a good trade. Unless that dude has a huge stack of receipts for parts laying around (doubtful) you can assume that it's a no-name Ebay crap build and will likely fail in a possibly spectacular manner in the near future.
Re: Trading my 02 rsx-s for a turbo 98 integra ls???
I was going to say bad trade, then I looked at your RSX quarter panels and can see it is rotting from the inside out. It's about equal imo. But i'd at least do a compression test before committing.
Re: Trading my 02 rsx-s for a turbo 98 integra ls???
I would not trade a perfectly good RSX-S for a frankenstein LS project. Plus you didn't say what ECM was being used. As far as I know, it could be running on basemaps and already blown. Also looks like that car has been in a front end collision.
If you sold your car for $3900, would you buy that LS with it? I wouldn't.
