Default Difference in 93 & 98 (a1 & a4) head.

bent valve in 93 head...now the 98 head is bolted on...aside from the difference in cleanliness...what makes the rated 5 hp difference? Camshaft profile or head porting? (*crosses fingers 5hp gain is rated from new head design*)

It's made up, it doesn't exist. Even the Japanese prelude specs didn't change from 4th to 5th gens....

ive heard through the grapevine the 5hp is attributed to the use of a different header. dont say that i told you this is right though.

My bud Keith Lee dispelled that myth on a thread on PO.com....he compared them side by side....the 97-98 and the 99-01 header are exactly the same if that's what you mean.

Nope, thats the same as well.... I know this because I have had both side by side, other than the A pipe is longer on the 5th gen... The Manifold is the same though...

I know overall speed due to weight, and gearing is what makes the 5G slower usually. SOMEHOW, I beat a 5G i/h/e/ pullies and a 50 shot (wet) from a roll saturday night. He claims to have run a 14.5 with 2.4 60'.

(I poste4d this on the local board too.

...beat a prelude saturday night that had i/h/e pullies...and a 50 shot (wet). He also said he ran 14.5 with a 2.4 60'.(I assume @ LEAST a 14.3-14.4 with a high 2.2-2.3ish 60')

<begin joke/sarcasm> So technically on my ricer 1/4 mi. scale, me winning from a roll factors out the 60' thus leaving me to believe my gearing/acceleration is better. So I must run 14.3-14.4? Too bad I can't launch/shift fast otherwise I might be suprised the next time I get around to going to the track.
