I'm having a issue with my transmission linkage/bushing. I'm not sure what exactly failed but it's still in gear and I can't pull it out of 2nd gear. I'm thinking maybe a bushing failed in the linkage somewhere

 

Yup!

 

The problem is usually the big bushing where the lever goes through the floor. Pull upward on the lever to get it back into the pivot point at the same time push it toward neutral.

If nothing happens there, go under the car an pull directly on the transmission end of the linkage. (Note that when you pull the lever inside the car back for 2 or 4, it pushes the rod into the transmission, and vice versa). Of course make sure the brake is set and the wheels are blocked, because if you do succeed in getting it out of gear, the car will want to roll.

It is possible for something to jam inside the transmission, especially if you were slamming it into gears without clutching, which bends the shafts.

 

Alright. I'm getting it towed to my house tomorrow and I'll give that a try before I get to deep into it

 

i didnt jump into it too deep tonight but the bushing that links the rod to the trans seems to have lost the pin/bolt so the rod was dragging on the ground
