HELP! Overheating and now stalling..
I have an automatic 99 Accord with 280,xxx miles. This made be a long post so bare with me but I don't wanna leave anything out that could be important.
For or a couple months now, everyday my car has been making chirping/squeeling noises on and off when I start the car and/or accelerate (don't know if this is related to my problem or not). Yesterday my family took a 300 miles trip. I forgot to check the coolant before I left. Almost 200 miles in, my car overheated ontop of the pass and I had to coast down the mountain. I pulled over and two people helped me out and gave me some water to put in my radiator. I also put probably a cups worth of windshield wiper fluid in as well not thinking. Car ran fine the rest of the trip. Today I was on my way to my appointment 15 min from my house and the car started overheating again and the air from the heater blew cold. I stopped and pulled my radiator cap off and it fountained. I waited a little bit with the car in neutral but still running and it slowly cooled off. When I started driving again the temp went back up. I stopped and put 2 gallons of water in the radiator and the car ran fine the rest of the day and the heater started blowing hot again. Came home flushed the radiator and was in the process of burping it and it stalled. It sounded like it was suffocating and then died. I let it sit for a little bit and tried again. It started but only stayed running for a minute before choking and dying again.
Just reading online, the ideas I have are water pump and blown head gasket. Please help me!!

it's really important when you have an overheat situation is to not drive at all as soon as you realize it's even a little above the normal spot. The difference in price between fixing the issue and having to fix engine damage can be substantial. The chirping is likely just a loose or worn belt. The overheating could be a bad fan. However, now that there is engine running issues you will need to do a compression test to verify the engine isn't damaged(possible head warp). If the compression test checks out fine then you can work on fixing the overheating.
Well never put just water in the radiator. That'll make it over heat quicker because water boils and turns into steam when hot. Coolant does not. I'm sure you have a leak some where. With it being a 99 did it throw a check engine?
