I'll be doing a jdm d15b swap soon and never have done it before in my 99 civic ex. I dont know what exactly all I need but what I've kinda read and that's that it's a plug and play kinda thing. Not sure though. So it would be a big help to me if someone could list out what all I need so I can order and have it ready to go. Thanks

 

Keep all the extras from your Y8, fuel rail, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, injectors, and distributor.

Also compare the cam gear of your Y8 to the D15B. I think the JDM D15B vtec is an OBD2 so it might have the same key indexing as your Y8, if it does nothing needs to be changed there, if it doesn't, then you will have to note the change in the crank shaft pulley marks so you can set your ignition timing correctly.

OBD1 motors typically were 16�° BTDC ignition timing while OBD2 motors typically were 12° BTDC ignition timing.

There is a 4.77° (half a tooth) variance between the cam gears of OBD1 and OBD2 so it's a sign the ignition timing will be different.

 

Ok great, so as far as the edu harness goes, would I have to change anything on that?

I assumed you would be keeping your ECU and running the D15B as a D16Y8.

Simply just swapping out the block and head.

The other two parts that come to mind is whether or not the D15B vtec has the crank fluctuation sensor and whether it has the knock sensor on the back of the block like the D16Y8 does.

Those are the other two parts you have to figure out.
