2009 Pilot EX - Rack & Pinion?
Hi, I have a 2009 Honda Pilot EX, and recently took my vehicle in to Honda to have the airbag recall issue resolved. I also asked them to check the vehicle out to see if anything else was wrong or needed to be done, and they said my rack & pinion were leaking and would have to be replaced. They wanted to charge me $1,600 parts & labor, but I was hoping to find a walkthrough on how to do this myself. I am decently mechanically inclined, figure it will probably take me around 8-10 hours but could not find a step-by-step guide anywhere. Thanks in advance for any tips or info.
First, why does the shop say it needs to be replaced?
If there's a leak, are you sure it's not something simple like the inlet o-ring?

The guide is available for my 2004 on Autozone.com. Here is the link, but it may require you to create a free account 1st before you can view it. The biggest problem is that you have to drop the subframe about 3 inches at the back to get the rack out. Not the simplest of tasks.
