Unknown B series transmission
Hello! I need some help!
Recently i bought a b16a swap with transmission. The guy told me that it was a ls 4.26 transmission (doesnt have any labels) and that it was grinding 3rd gear. So before installing it in the car i decided to take it to a friend that repairs tannies for a check. My friend told me that it has a 4.40 FD, so i order the synchros, springs and some sliders of a gsr since it was a "4.40" I thought it will be the same. When the parts arrived and after comparing with what the transmission actually had, it was ALL different. I was able to find some matching synchros from a synchrotech dealer which told me that the synchros i had were from a ls transmission, but i counted the teeths of my FD and it has 66 and 15, so it has a 4.40.... My question is, is it a b16 transmission or an ls with swapped FD?? How ca i tell?

Sounds like an LS with a B16A final drive. A quick look at third gear and our friend could have told you the correct parts to order. LS and any BVTEC mainshaft third gears are very easy to distinguish from each other.
