Default Ac question(s)

So in December my Ac compressor took a dump on me. Since then I've had it replaced, and since it's been cold I never got the Ac serviced again to run cold air. Well my question is since replacing the compressor should I take my car to a shop to have it recharged or can I use one of those recharge cans that you can get from auto part stores. Thanks for the info in advance

If the compressor exploded you will need to atleast replace the condenser and the drier, and should replace the expansion valve as well. Then have a shop check for leaks and pull a vacuum to remove all moisture then recharge to spec.

exploded? It went out while it was running. I smelt a burning sent inside the car if that's what you mean
