Default need opinions on what to do with my engine management

So I started out with Ostrich and Hulog tuning with Crome Pro. Which worked well. Then a "friend" sold me his ecu with what he said was Hondata v2. Turns out it's a version 1. First the Ecu was bad so I had to get a new ecu, modify it for manual and chip it for vtec and Hondata. Installed it and it worked for a few weeks but now Hondata wont take any changes to the fuel map and randomly disconnects while data logging. So I'm pretty sure the battery on it is going bad.

So Im at a crossroads with what to do. Do I send out the Hondata and upgrade to ver. 3 for $380. Go back to the Moates setup with Crome? I'm conflicted because if I do the upgrade I will have spent well over what buying a new Ver 3 chip would've cost.

This will be going on a boosted and built d16z6.

So what would you guys do in this situation. This is basically the last thing that needs figured out before I can swap my engine and install the turbo so it's really frustrating.

Having had Crome in the past, and now running Hondata V3, I would say it depends on how much is going into ur build. Hondata does add some versatility and fine tuning parameters that I do not recall Crome being capable of.

So for a stock engine build with some boost and modest HP goals, I would say Crome is fine.

For a built engine with higher HP goals, you want to protect your investment and I'd go with the Hondata V3. Plus the bluetooth feature and mobile app is pretty neat

I can say I've had my V3 installed for about a week and so far it works great. It comes with a 1 year warranty so you have that peace of mind, plus their customer service is pretty good.

I sprung for the ECU reliability upgrade also.

Good luck with your decision.

do you have any experience with Neptune/Demon 2. I was also thinking about that now since it would be about the same cost

I use Neptune rtp and really like it. I don't think you can go wrong with either s300 or Neptune. I will say s300 seems to have more options, but is slightly more expensive then Neptune/demon setup. Really not a wrong decision either way you go...

I think I'm leaning towards Demon. Ill probably use Crome Pro at first then get Neptune. This way I wont have to find an extra ecu to use if I went the upgrade route.

Any market for s300 Ver1 with a failing battery
