Default New head gasket but pumping out white smoke now

Hi everyone,

I recently just did the head gasket on my 98 Honda Civic dx 1.6L d16y7. It was going through coolant like non other and there was combustion gas in the rad. Bought a 3 piece gasket I believe may have been 4 piece. Everything sat well torqued the head holds to spec. Now when I start it, it pumps out plumes of white smoke. It didn't do this before the new head gasket went in.

I checked my plugs to see if any of them are wet. Nothing. No external leaks from rad. Temp is not moving just sitting under half. Coolant is not going low at all haven't lost a drop since the repair. Drove it for roughly 150km thinking it would clear the left over coolants from the cat.

Need help to figure out the problem! Looks horrible driving it now while it's pumping smoke out!

Did you get the head milled after your last head gasket blew?

i didn't get the head milled but I cleaned up the head and the block and sanded the edges and made sure it wasn't warped with a straight edge.

I think that is where your issue is. .1mm is hard to see under the straight edge. Would suggest compression test.

I will do a compression test on it later tomorrow. Just noticed while I was driving the temp will sit sometime at normal temp and other times really cool but still have really strong heat out of the heater core. When it's showing the temp is cool. It does not smoke. Any suggestions why that might be as well?

expansion and contraction of the aluminum head with the fluctuations in temperature
