Suspension Creaking
Hello, fellow H-T'ers!
I recently replaced the rear lower control arms on my 1998 Civic DX Hatch and I notice that they creak when the cars weight shifts on turns or going over bumps.
It's pretty obvious that it's the control arm bushings creaking in there, but why? Do they need to be greased or something?
Thanks!

Hmmm, I have always had creaking suspensions in my EG and Wagon... I didn't really notice it was an issue until this thread... I gotta stop being used to hand me down problems in my cars.
The first thought I had was civic402lx said. Something I've learned doing my suspension is silicon grease is a wonder cream. I put it on all of the suspension points that move. It won't break the rubber down, it actually helps keep it in good shape. It is also pretty amazing at restoring rubber in general. The rubber under my removable top in my Del Sol was looking pretty rough, and I couldn't afford the $5M to replace it all. I read somewhere that rubbing Syl-Glide on them restores them. Who woulda thunk? It worked. Solved a leak and still going strong after three years.
sounds great will buy! cheers...

I thought the creaking on my 2010 Accord was front suspension until I jacked up the front to try and inject grease. The creaking started as I jacked the car and is definitely from the rear end, both sides I think. I had a look but can find nowhere to inject lube. Have a missed something?

It won't find the spots for you. I apply it to bushings, and any area that moves and touches something else. If it's your exhaust, it would be a a temp at best solution because either something bent or one of your mounts broke.
