Default TSB #1003 "MANUAL TRANSMISSION HARD TO SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR, GRINDS INTO REVERSE"

Is there anyone out there that has any experience with this TSB (#1003) or others similar? I am not convinced that my clutch is going out and I am still looking for other possible causes for hard to shift into first, reverse and other gears now. Very easily goes into gear with car off. Shift linkage? shift fork and or pivot?? I replaced the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder and no difference.

There is not a TSB numbered 1003. Honda TSB's are xx-xxx numbers.

Bottom line is if the car is not moving and the clutch pedal is pushed down, all the gears in the transmission should stop moving. So it should not grind trying to shift to reverse. If it does, the clutch is not disengaging.

* Bad master cylinder (which you replaced)
* Hydraulic system empty or not properly bled of air
* Clutch fork lever cracked / bent
* Clutch disk broken

The latter two require removing the transmission to check.

I had trouble a few times getting mine to come out of gear while moving. I thought the trans was going because this problem was in addition to a very noisy Main Shaft bearing! Checked all the hydraulic and it ended up being the clutch disk. Two of the four springs had broken from their retainers, I guess it wasn't allowing the clutch to fully release. New clutch fixed it. For ***** and giggles I bled the hydraulics too. Man was that fluid dirty after 23 years of use!
